ZAG BANK TIP: To help protect your computer from viruses and identity theft, be sure to only download software or email attachments from known sources.
Encryption is your friend
Today’s browsers are equipped with 128-bit encryption or better that scramble information while it is being transmitted to prevent hackers from reading it. The padlock icon at the bottom of your browser or next to the address bar indicates when encryption is at work. Make sure to have the latest encryption protocols by downloading all of your browser updates.
Most websites store files called “cookies” on your computer in order to make it easier to navigate websites. They contain encoded information like your preferences, visited pages, device information, etc. Zag Bank uses two types of cookies: “session cookies” and “persistent” cookies. Session cookies allow you to move back and forth within a secure banking session and expire once you signoff or leave the secure website. Persistent cookies remain on your computer and are part of our login process and help us identify you when you are signing into Zag Online. Our persistent cookies do not contain sensitive details, but we use them for site personalization, reporting, statistics, marketing programs and to measure user visits. We never share this information with outside organizations.
Anti-Virus and Anti-Spy Software
To protect the privacy of your personal information and the information on your computer and devices, you should install and use a firewall as well as anti-virus and anti-spyware software and update them regularly. Many of these programs let you set up automatic scans of your computer to run checks on your existing files as well as do real-time monitoring of your system.
